About Trek O’Clock

A team of passionate adventure experts dedicated to quality treks, cultural tours, and safaris across the Nepal, Tibet, Bhutan & India. Local expertise, responsible travel & unforgettable experiences.

Born in the Himalayas. Built for adventure seekers worldwide.

Trek O’Clock is a Nepal trekking, climbing and adventure travel company created to help travellers explore the Himalayas with proper planning, local knowledge and reliable support.

The name Trek O’Clock comes from a simple idea: there is a right time to step outside your routine and experience the mountains with care, purpose and good preparation. For us, trekking is not just about reaching a viewpoint or completing an itinerary. It is about travelling through the Himalayas in a way that is safe, respectful, well organised and suited to the person taking the journey.

Our work is based on real Himalayan experience, Nepal-based operations, responsible travel values and clear communication for international clients. From the first enquiry to the final airport transfer, we focus on practical details that shape the experience: route selection, acclimatisation, accommodation, transport, permits, safety, timing, weather and local support.

Trek O’Clock operates through two connected companies: Trek O’Clock Kathmandu, Nepal, founded in 2023, and Trek O’Clock Sydney, Australia, founded in 2026. Together, they allow us to combine local mountain operations in Nepal with international planning and client service for travellers from Australia and around the world.

Our Story

The story of Trek O’Clock started before the company name was registered. Our founder Joel Jamkatel began working in Nepal’s trekking industry as a trekking guide in 2006. Those early years on the mountain trail gave him direct experience with high mountain routes, remote villages, changing weather, guest safety, local logistics, guides and porters training requirements and the daily responsibility required to guide travellers through Nepal’s trekking regions.

Guiding in the Himalayas taught him that a good trek depends on more than scenery. Travellers need a realistic itinerary, a sensible walking pace, clear communication, careful altitude management and a team they can trust when conditions change.

After travelling and experiencing different parts of the world, including Europe, he moved to Australia in 2017. Living in Australia gave him a stronger understanding of what many international travellers expect before they book an adventure: honest advice, clear inclusions and exclusions, reliable communication, safety planning, comfort where possible and no confusion about what happens next.

Trek O’Clock was created to bring those two worlds together: Nepal’s mountain knowledge and the service expectations of global travellers.

Two companies, one Trek O’Clock approach

Trek O’Clock is established in Kathmandu, Nepal, and Sydney, Australia.

Trek O’Clock Kathmandu manages our Nepal operations, including trekking logistics, guides, porters, permits, transport, accommodation, local coordination and support during trips.

Trek O’Clock Sydney supports international growth, with a strong focus on travellers from Australia and other global markets. The Sydney presence gives clients a familiar contact point for pre-trip communication, planning support and brand confidence before they arrive in Nepal.

Together, the two companies give travellers a practical advantage. Their trip is planned with international client expectations in mind and operated in Nepal by a local team that understands the trails, seasons, communities and mountain logistics.

Why Trek O’Clock exists

Trek O’Clock exists because Nepal should be experienced with care, preparation and respect. A Himalayan journey should not feel rushed, unclear or unsafe. It should match the traveller’s ability, time, budget, comfort level and reason for visiting Nepal.

We do not only sell trekking packages. We plan journeys around real conditions on the ground, including altitude, walking times, accommodation standards, transport options, weather, permits, cultural expectations and emergency planning.

Our trips include Everest Base Camp, Annapurna, Langtang, Manaslu, Mustang, city tours, jungle safaris, white-water rafting, cultural travel, photography tours, student heritage tours, family trips, Buddhist and Hindu pilgrimage tours, senior-friendly journeys, private premium itineraries and many more, depending on the season, route access and client requirements.

Journeys shaped around the traveller

Every traveller arrives with a different goal. Some want to stand below Everest. Some want to walk slowly through villages and forests. Some travel with children, some travel alone, and some need a comfortable pace with extra rest and clear daily support.

At Trek O’Clock, we recommend the journey around the traveller, not the other way around. Our team considers fitness, previous trekking experience, altitude exposure, food needs, comfort expectations, travel dates and available time before suggesting a route.

Adventure should challenge you, but it should also respect your pace. Good planning helps travellers enjoy the journey instead of simply trying to finish it.

What makes Trek O’Clock different

Trek O’Clock is built from direct experience in Nepal’s trekking industry. Our founder has worked on the trails, guided travellers and seen the difference between a trip that is only sold well and a trip that is actually managed well.

Our strength comes from combining local Himalayan knowledge with the service standards expected by international clients. We understand Nepal from inside the industry, and we understand what overseas travellers need before they commit to a trek.

Our aim is not to be the cheapest trekking company in Nepal. Our aim is to be a trusted Nepal adventure company known for safety, care, good planning and responsible service.

Safety comes first

Safety is one of the main foundations of Trek O’Clock. Nepal’s trekking routes pass through remote mountain areas where altitude, weather, trail conditions, domestic flights and access to medical care can change quickly. For that reason, we treat safety as part of the planning process, not as an afterthought.

Our guides support travellers with practical trail guidance before and during the journey. This includes walking safely on narrow sections, giving way to yaks, mules and porters, managing altitude risk, staying hydrated, using trekking poles properly and taking care when stopping for photos on exposed trails.

For selected high-altitude treks, oxygen support may be available as part of the safety plan. First aid support is included, and larger groups may require assistant guides or additional support staff depending on the route, altitude and group size.

For groups of 10 or more, Trek O’Clock can arrange an additional first aid support person where required. For larger groups, assistant guides and extra support staff may also be provided to improve supervision, pacing and guest care.

Our aim is straightforward: every traveller should feel informed, supported and cared for from arrival to departure.

Emergency support in the mountains

Trek O’Clock plans every trek with safety in mind, but mountain conditions in Nepal can change quickly. If a traveller becomes unwell, injured or affected by altitude, our guide will assess the situation on the ground and help arrange the safest available support based on the location, symptoms, weather and local resources.

Where possible, the guide may arrange help from a local doctor, health post or clinic. If altitude symptoms appear, the priority is usually to stop ascending and move to a lower altitude. Depending on the situation and local availability, this may involve walking down slowly, using a horse or mule, or receiving physical support from the guide and porter team to reach a safer elevation.

For serious emergencies, Trek O’Clock can assist with helicopter rescue coordination where helicopter access is possible, and weather, landing conditions, insurance approval and aircraft availability allow. Our team will do its best to keep communication clear between the client, guide, family contact, insurance provider and rescue operator where required.

When phone connection is available, our guide will also seek advice from Trek O’Clock’s doctor service provider through telehealth support from Kathmandu. This can help the guide understand the situation and decide the safest next step, especially in remote areas where immediate in-person medical care may not be available.

If immediate outside help is not available, our guides and porters will continue doing everything reasonably possible to help the affected traveller move to a lower altitude or safer place until further support can be arranged. We strongly recommend that every client has travel insurance that covers high-altitude trekking, emergency medical care and helicopter evacuation in Nepal.

Technology used by Trek O’Clock in the Himalayas

Trek O’Clock uses practical mountain technology to support communication, safety, navigation and guest care during treks in Nepal. Technology cannot replace experienced guides, local judgement or proper planning, but it helps our team keep essential information organised and respond more clearly when conditions change.

Every Trek O’Clock guide is provided with a dedicated Trek O’Clock mobile phone for trek operations while on the trek. This company-supported device helps keep communication, incident reporting, emergency contacts, offline maps, translation tools, client updates and operational information in one place.

Depending on the route, group size and local availability, our guide team may carry or arrange selected support tools for the journey.

All technology used during a trek is treated as a support system, not a guarantee. Mountain weather, terrain, battery life, network coverage and local conditions can affect performance. Our guides combine technology with practical mountain experience, local support and safe decision-making.

Communication, AI support and multi-language care

Clear communication matters on every trip, especially in the mountains where plans can change because of weather, altitude, trail conditions or flight delays.

Trek O’Clock trains guides and porters to use modern communication tools where appropriate, including AI-assisted translation, automated weather forecast notifications and travel support tools on company-supported devices. These tools can help explain daily plans, safety instructions, cultural information, meal arrangements, route updates and emergency guidance more clearly for travellers from different language backgrounds.

Technology does not replace local knowledge or human care. It supports our team when language creates a barrier and helps guests feel more informed during the journey.

Where required, Trek O’Clock can arrange multi-language guides for selected trips. Travellers who need a specific language should tell us during the enquiry stage so we can check availability and plan properly.

Responsible travel and environmental care

The Himalayas are sensitive mountain environments. Waste, trail pressure, water use and poor visitor behaviour can affect villages, lodges, wildlife and trekking routes.

Trek O’Clock trains guides and porters to follow responsible travel practices during each journey. Our team encourages proper waste handling, including carrying rubbish to the next available disposal point where possible.

We ask guests to respect local culture, monasteries, wildlife, water sources, village rules and natural surroundings. Small choices matter on the trail, including using refillable bottles, avoiding unnecessary plastic and following guide instructions in protected areas.

As part of our long-term sustainability plan, Trek O’Clock aims to plant one tree for each booking and support positive environmental action through traveller feedback and community projects.

Respect, dignity and equal treatment

Nepal has a long history, many cultures and diverse communities. It is also a country still working through social issues that can include discrimination based on caste, ethnicity, tribe, background, gender, language, religion or social status.

Trek O’Clock believes every person deserves to be treated with respect and dignity. This applies to guests, guides, porters, office staff, drivers, hotel teams, local partners, suppliers and community members.

We train our team that discrimination, humiliation, harassment, sexual harassment, bullying and disrespectful behaviours are not accepted in Trek O’Clock work. This applies during communication with travellers, staff, local communities and service providers.

If a Trek O’Clock staff member is found to be involved in discriminatory, sexual harassment, abusive or disrespectful conduct, the matter will be taken seriously and reviewed. Depending on the incident, action may include suspension, removal from Trek O’Clock work opportunities, termination of engagement and, where required, reporting to the relevant authorities under local laws and regulations.

Our goal is to help build a trekking culture where every person is valued because they are human, not because of caste, position, nationality, background or status.

Supporting guides, porters and local workers

The people behind each journey deserve respect, safety and fair opportunity. Guides and porters are central to trekking in Nepal. They carry route knowledge, weather awareness, cultural understanding, strength, patience and responsibility. Their work affects safety, comfort and the overall quality of the trek.

Trek O’Clock aims to support its team through training before work, workplace health and safety awareness, food allowance support for porters, accommodation support during work and insurance coverage for staff where applicable.

As the company grows, we aim to create permanent, part-time and casual work opportunities for guides, porters and support staff. Selected team members may also have opportunities to support Australian-based projects, festivals, events and promotional activities where possible.

We want Trek O’Clock to be a company where local workers can grow, learn, earn and take pride in their work.

Helping low-income workers and families

Trek O’Clock’s future plan includes a dedicated support platform for low-income trekking workers and their families.

Through this initiative, we aim to raise funds to support children of low-income workers with school-related needs and education support. The goal is to use the growth of Trek O’Clock to create practical opportunities for families connected to Nepal’s trekking industry.

Every booking should contribute to more than a travel service. It should help support workers, families and mountain communities in a practical way.

Premium travel with purpose

Trek O’Clock promotes premium and comfort-focused travel instead of rushed, low-cost trips that can place pressure on safety, staff and service quality.

A premium approach allows more room for better planning, suitable accommodation choices, trained support staff, reliable equipment and clearer communication throughout the journey.

It also helps us support guides, porters and local service providers more fairly. Travellers are not only paying for an itinerary. They are investing in safety, planning, people, comfort and responsible travel.

Experiences we offer

Nepal is the main focus of Trek O’Clock, but every traveller has a different reason for visiting.

Our experiences include trekking and hiking, city tours, jungle safaris, white-water rafting, cultural journeys, heritage tours, photography tours, student educational tours, World Heritage Sites tours, content creator tours, senior-friendly comfort journeys, family adventures and private premium itineraries.

For clients who want professional content from their trip, Trek O’Clock can arrange photographers, videographers and drone-permitted production teams where available and legally permitted.

Our role is to help travellers choose a Nepal experience that matches their purpose, whether that is trekking, culture, wildlife, photography, education, celebration, rest or personal challenge.

Nepal and beyond

Nepal will always be the heart of Trek O’Clock. From Everest and Annapurna to Langtang, Mustang, Manaslu, Chitwan, Bardia, Kathmandu, Pokhara and Lumbini, Nepal offers mountains, wildlife, culture, history and spiritual sites in a relatively small country.

As Trek O’Clock grows, our long-term vision includes carefully planned journeys beyond Nepal, including selected experiences in Tibet, Bhutan and India.

These destinations share strong Himalayan, cultural and spiritual connections with Nepal. When offered, these trips will follow the same Trek O’Clock approach: clear planning, local guidance, responsible travel and practical client support.
